Undecided: Photek – Rings Around Saturn
Eine neue Kategorie hier im Blog. Unter dem Label „Undecided“ werde ich mich um Tracks kümmern, die auf den Geschwindigkeiten 33 1/3 oder 45 RPM beide Male so schön klingen, dass man sich eigentlich nicht entscheiden kann, auf welcher Geschwindigkeit sie denn nun laufen sollen.
Den Anfang macht Breakbeat Ninja Photek mit seinem Klassiker Rings Around Saturn, der 1995 auf seinem eigenen Label Photek erschienen ist.
Auf 33 wird aus der sehr hektischen Jungle Nummer eine entspannte Downbeat Perle mit wunderschöner Melodie und entspanntem Bass. Manche Details oder Samples kommen meiner Meinung nach in der langsamen Version erst komplett zur Geltung bzw. werden in der schnellen Variante „überhört“. Hier noch einmal das Original auf 45 zum Vergleich.

beneath mit neuer ep
um no symbols war es in den letzten monaten ruhig geworden, da sich labelchef beneath vornehmlich seinem anderen kind mistry widmete, wo er tracks von anderen künstlern und kollegen veröffentlicht – vor kurzem zum beispiel von laksa (mistry007).
nun aber gibts am 28. oktober endlich wieder drei tracks vom chef persönlich und die clips lassen schon ungeduldige vorfreude aufkommen:
